Community Partnerships

Milwood Magnet School is thankful for its tremendous community support. Our partners offer mentors, education, interns, counseling, health assistance, community service opportunities, and volunteers for our Biotechnology Partners Program. Community partners teach our students that they are an important part of our community.

Milwood Magnet School partnership opportunities are available for community members who want to make a difference. We welcome:

  • Visiting presenters for our classrooms and events.
  • Professionals to host a yearly site visit for sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students.
  • Eighth grade intern hosts for monthly job-shadowing.
  • Advisors for the Milwood Magnet School Biotechnology program, Biotechnology Experience Program, and the Community Education Initiative.
  • Sponsors to donate money and/or supplies to support enriching opportunities like student summer camps, classroom programs, institutes, and field experience.

Some of our partners include Western Michigan University, Emotional Healing, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, Kalamazoo Communities in Schools, Community Education, Community Service, and Biotechnology Partners Program.

Community Service

With community service, Milwood Magnet School students learn to help others. In 2007, we helped 25 families receive a week of food with our Greater Kalamazoo Area Food Drive. We also saw 50 deserving students receive coats through the Share A Smile program.
